The project of the embankment by the Klyazma river, Vladimir, 2009

Vladimir is one of the few cities in Russia standing on a river and not having an embankment. For 150 years it was separated from the river Klyazma by the railway, that turned one of the most unique places in the city into the “exclusion zone”. This project is supposed to reunite the city with its mother –the river Klyazma. This quay is a platform covering railways and the southern highway, thus protecting the residential areas from the noise. The pedestrian zone is organized on the waterfront. There are microplatforms, walkways, shops and cafes, they create a special cosy atmosphere. Plastic streamline nature of the architecture is caused by the desire to adapt the construction to the natural environment of the southern part of Vladimir panorama as much as possible/ The quay creates a complete image for an overall perception of the city from the river, from Murom direction, as well as in the interior of the city.
